| Today's economic challenges and the resulting impact on budgets and staff create an increased risk to patient safety. Clear, well understood and consistent practices can minimise unforeseen risks or errors, while robust reporting systems which allow positive rather than punitive lessons to be learned, can ensure that where mistakes are made they are not repeated.
Promoting and developing a safety culture is vital if our patient safety record is to be improved and sustained. This includes teamwork, leadership, the fostering of a no-blame culture, learning from adverse incidents and developing education and training linked to whole-systems approaches to patient safety improvement.
The Patient Safety Workshop, taking place 19th October 2010 as part of the Patient Safety Congress, will act as a catalyst for a benchmarking best practices in patient safety. The programme will provide delegates with all the tools and practical information necessary to deliver improvement in patient safety. |
